Over the past few years our Vermont public schools have been dealing with some incredibly difficult issues that have shredded the fabric of classrooms, pitted student against student, disrupted the learning environment, and caused outrageous outbursts at school board meetings.
One of the dimensions of this situation is the level of intrusiveness into citizens lives. It's so pervasive that we don't even note it. Our "stop touching me" citizen reaction has been anesthetized. These rulers' entitled intrusiveness is the standard and it generates absurdities like that Mr. Roper describes here. We might remember that the impulse to run other peoples' lives is what has striped aspiring leaders of their credibility. Note our founding; Note the clergy.
