Please contact your State House Representative and tell them to support House bill H.16 which repeals the Clean Heat Standard. If your representative is on the new House Energy Committee, tell them to take this bill "off the wall" and support it's affirmative vote to bring it to the House floor for debate.
One of my newly elected Reps, an affable tyrant, said the AHA does not need to be repealed, and everyone "needs to do their part" against climate change, would not commit to removing the lawsuit provision from the GWSA, would not commit to changing the mandates to goals, and would not put a price tag on how much he expects every Vermonter to "do their part." The other incumbent rep, just a plain tyrant, did not reply, as usual.
Former legislative counsel and Addison-4 (Bristol, Lincoln, Monkton, Starksboro) Representative Herb Olson told me we need to respect each other's opinion. He sees no problem with the AHA/CHS as a statute with no enforcement mechanism and would not commit to changing the GWSA mandates to goals, would not commit to removing the litigation provision even though he is "not a fan" of it, without seeing any written legislation, and he's not seated on the Energy Committee, so it's out of his hands, eye roll. Meanwhile he told me he's been transparent on his position on the GWSA/AHA/CHS all along, but will not disclose the cost each of us must bear to "do our part." Democrats think they are elected to impose their opinions on everyone else. They are not interested in protecting our unalienable rights under the Constitutions: thus, tyrants who do not know they are tyrants: gaslighters who do not know they are gaslighting. If the AHA/CHS was repealed and the GWSA mandates were changed to goals, all the Climate warriors could still buy their EVs and switch to electric heat in their homes without being forced to do so, while the rest of us would choose the heating and transportation vehicles and fuels that we can afford, as we should be able to do in a democratic constitutional republic. Their oath is to uphold the constitutions, of which many Dems/Progs pervert the meaning and intent. Former Senator Chris Bray also claimed the CHS was intended to stabilize energy costs for less affluent Vermonters under the assumption electric prices would remain stable, claiming heating fuel prices fluctuate, overlooking the fact that the CHS would add cost to homeowners on top of those fluctuating heating fuel prices. My conversation with Rep Olson is worthy of a commentary on its own, to expose the tyranny. Representative "I listen" Mari Cordes did not respond to my request to encourage the House Energy Committee to take up H.16. Since I ran against the Democrats in Addison-4, I would not want my commentary perceived as being a "sore loser." I'm simply sore from damaging polices.
You're right Rob! The Climate scare tactics are working because it's a big issue so older age or less informed Vermonters take the easy route, buying the legislator's 'big and scary' tactic and words. How about other Vermonter, timeless energy saving tactics like turning the heat down when you leave home or turning electric appliances off whenever you're not using them for several hours? The more we rely on electric appliances, the lazier we get, the higher the popular demand and the more we spend paying the electricity company.
I worked at the Barre BOR Shelter last night (4 "Homeless" in their 30s - 11pm-7am) and was saddened to hear only 1 "thank you" this morning (for the 7 to 7 free bed, sheets, blankets, heat a huge room, food, indoor plumbing, lighting-all thanks to Barre taxpayers and probably the Vermont Dept of Health). We continue to expect nothing from them, only to see them as helpless. One very capable middle age man (30's) wouldn't get out of bed until after 7 am, without more parental coaxing from staff. No one is training these young people. Perhaps a stint in the military would make them wise on living responsibly. A car and driver (from a church) arrived at 7 to give them a free ride downtown to a local church that planned to provide warmth and meals all day until the shelter opens again this afternoon. No 'thank you' within earshot. Just get to the car and take everything as if it's "owed" to you like a young child. We're being co-dependent raising dependent children. Oh, and the Legislature needs more of your money to keep this scheme going.
