The only way those flaming left wing media will objectively pursue information and truth is if their audiences either pound it out of them with relentless criticism or, more likely, by their wholesale abandonment and moving to better outlets such as Vermont Daily Chronicle and many Substack writers doing yeoman's work, such as yourself -- in which case they would probably close up shop rather than admit to deceit and changing their ways, as we have been seeing with several failing media and publications.
I'll never forget how WDEV breathlessly aired the daily 45min covid "emergency response" presser with Gov Scott and Dr (Fauchi Jr.) Levine scaring the crap out of Vermonters with unmitigated BS.
I'm shocked how Levine went after churches by name for daring to worship with the unwashed (unvaxxed) in the pews.
I used to feel that VTDigger was presenting a reasonable view on VT news stories, left leaning, yes, but still fairly even-handed. Then several years ago they suddenly stopped accepting comments on stories. I always found the comments very well thought out. Of course, it’s a fact that most of the commenters disagreed with the story writers, but they were mostly objective and respectful. The paper put out the story that they didn’t have the staff or time to ‘monitor’ the comments. I suspect the editors just couldn’t stand the fact that so many of their readers didn’t agree with the stories they were publishing and didn’t wish to give a platform to ‘wrong thinking’ readers.
I have very little respect for publications that will not accept feedback on their stories. Fortunately on Substack there is a robust exchange of views on most of the sites, which is why I rarely ever read VTDigger except for an occasional skimming of the headlines which have the familiar progressive bias in most every one.
As I read this article I thought that it would be perfect if you were to apply for the position and report in your next Substack post on how the first interview went.

I don't disagree, but worth giving them a chance to show their stripes again under a spotlight. ;-)

No accountability. The damage these guys did!
