Some 25 years ago, the Vermont legislature created rules for health insurance which drove at least two dozen inexpensive indemnity insurers out of business. Vermont Farm Bureau fought hard, and was put out of business. They attempted to link with New York Farm Bureau, which alliance was defeated. Combined Insurance, by far the number one issuer of "Industrial Insurance", was excluded, stranding nearly 30,000 policy holders. Golden Rule, a very popular issuer of "accident only" insurance, was blocked from selling, and existing policies were cancelled. The title of this article says so much. But it's actually worse. Healthcare is not only being used by governments as a tool for delivering welfare services, it is now a tool to sabotage and disable individual freedoms. And given that this government involvement enables healthcare providers to accrue more power and wealth, the healthcare industry is happy to oblige!

In my experience, the healthcare industry is the most corrupt force in our society. It poses as a benevolent actor, and it's everywhere. But what's under its disguise is an arrogant bully whose top priority is to make money, lots of money, for itself, irrespective of what it does to people or our freedoms.

My previous comment needs an additional paragraph about what government gets out of its nefarious partnership with the healthcare industry. Whom do most people trust the most? They trust doctors, and often more so than they trust their own family. So the easiest way for a tyrannical government to impose control over its subjects is to partner (work through) the doctors. This is where we're at.
