President Trump made two critical errors at the end of his term. He did not see the threat brought by mail-in voting. And most of all, his operation warp speed opened the door for the Covid hoax and the horrors that it wrought.

Otherwise, his presidency was a success, especially his SCOTUS picks, which continue to benefit the nation.

Now, he's an old man, with lots of baggage. I like Ramaswamy.

Thank you so very much for writing this essay Rob. You are absolutely 100% correct. If Trump is the GOP's candidate, then the Democratic candidate, whoever it is, will be our next President.

Are most Republicans that stupid (I'm sorry, but this hardball question has to be asked)? Are most Republicans afflicted by their own version of TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) wherein they mortally shoot themselves for the sake of someone they don't personally know, for no benefit whatsoever? We live in a crazy, upsidedown world.

Hi Robert, I don't think folks are stupid. I think they have a genuine beef with how Trump -- and they themselves -- have been treated by the media and the left wing political machine. I totally understand the impulse to want to shove him back in their faces. I might enjoy that myself if I thought for a nanosecond it would work -- but it won't. Given the response I've received so far in just the time it took me to hit a bucket of golf balls via email with people telling me "thank God you said this" and "I'm so happy I'm not the only person who thinks this way" gives me hope that a lot of folks are waiting for a better option. Now that the debates are happening I hope one breaks through. We actually have a lot of good candidates to choose from.

I am hugely sympathetic to this argument and I have made it myself many times. But I’ve stopped making it because I feel that DJTs nomination is now surely locked in. I’d much rather see someone new like DeSantis or Vivek at the top of the ticket. But the Dem/Media/DeepState have played this game very well. Just like in 2016 when they wanted Trump to be the nominee because they thought he was the easiest to beat, now they’re persecuting him because they know it will drive a wave of sympathy for him and hand him the nomination. Trump’s populist grass roots supporters aren’t playing 3D chess (no disrespect). They no the system is rigged and they just want to blow it up. I sure as heck feel that way and I know it’s be easier to beat Gavin Newsom with Vivek or DeSantis. But in reality the Dems/Media/DeepState are gonna make whoever the GOP nominee is seem like Hitler by the time the election arrives. I think the biggest question is whether the RNC has learned anything from 2020 and are they going to have the get out the vote and legal operations necessary to support the ground war and the rush of mail in ballots in swing states. We need a Republican Marc Elias (a la Harmeet Dhillon) but the RNC chose to stick with Ronna (who, to your point exactly, was supported by Trump). But the hand that’s being dealt is looking like we have to live with an imperfect candidate yet again. If that is the case let’s hope we can make the best of it.

I could not agree more Robert and I share a sense of doom that R’s have swallowed the D’s calculated plan to hype Trump’s nomination to ensure his east defeat the Nov election. I like Vivek’s style and candor but fear as an outsider he would share Trump’s mistakes on first entering office--no deep knowledge of the hundreds of committed savvy conservatives needed on day one to staff all the Executive Dept. slots to effect the 180° policy reversals required for substantive change. For these reasons I strongly favor DeSantis but I lament his so far lackluster campaign.
